Case study 05 · Book design

NYOTA

A speculative book object where cosmic order, organic structures and mechanical symbolism collide.

NYOTA is a self-initiated cover and editorial object exploring the tension between life, space and machine logic. The visual language imagines a book that feels like a recovered artifact from a distant spacecraft archive.

The design uses a metallic custom wordmark, porous organic structures, technical interface lines and a saturated Earth-window motif to build a dark, tactile science-fiction atmosphere.

01

Cover system

The cover, back cover and spine are treated as one continuous object. The front carries the strongest visual impact, while the back remains quieter to preserve contrast.

02

Material tension

Chrome-like lettering cuts through black organic textures, creating a hybrid feeling of weapon, bone and machine.

03

Editorial atmosphere

Fine UI lines, star-like highlights and interior spread previews extend the cover into a larger speculative world.

A book cover treated not as packaging, but as the first physical fragment of a fictional universe.
